Erica Shea is the co-founder of FarmSteady. She is a product and recipe designer—specializing in all things fermentation. Prior to launching FarmSteady, she co-founded Brooklyn Brew Shop—whose award-winning Beer Making Kits have revolutionized the way people make beer at home. Erica is the co-author of two books on brewing—Brooklyn Brew Shop’s Beer Making Book: 52 Seasonal Recipes for Small Batches and Make Some Beer: Small Batch Recipes from Brooklyn to Bamberg. Erica is a Forbes 30 Under 30 alum for her work promoting at-home fermentation. She has been profiled in Food & Wine Magazine, The New York Times, Real Simple, New York Magazine, Fortune, Refinery29, and Good Morning America.
Erica has taught classes and lectured on fermentation at the American Museum of Natural History, South By Southwest, WNYC’s Greene Space, Etsy, in addition to countless Beer and Fermentation Festivals across the United States and Europe. Erica is regularly featured on the FarmSteady YouTube Channel, where she showcases fun and original fermentation recipes.
